John A. Joynson
Commissioner John Joynson was born in Carrollton, Ohio, on December 5, 1942. John was raised in Bergholz, Ohio, and he joined the United States Army in 1961, when he was 18 years old. Basic Training was at Fort Knox, Kentucky, followed by 12 weeks of Radio Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia. John served 13 months in Korea as a Radio, Relay, and Carrier operator, he later served 16 months in France performing the same duties.
John Joynson continued to serve his community and veterans after leaving the Army. John joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #232 in Amsterdam, Ohio, where he held each position at the post. John is currently the Senior Vice Commander and a member of the Honor/Color Guard at Post. John held several positions for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Ohio, District "Six", including , Surgeon, Jr. Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander and was also an Adjutant to 6 District Commanders. John Joynson is also a member of the American Legion.
John Joynson was appointed as a Commissioner to the board of the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission in January, 2016. John remains committed to working diligently for the best interest of the veteran, he enjoys working with his fellow Commissioners and the Veteran Office staff to support our county veterans.
